As Brian Caldwell was finishing his youngest solo circumnavigation record in 1996, he thought- "how to keep his promise to friends met in ports along the way to return one day? But as Joshua Slocum said a hundred years before- "How to make it pay?
He thought- pherhaps the mini... His Contessa 26 was 6.5 meters on the waterline as well... the mini would be the 21st century extrapolation of the traditional folkboat design.
Ten years after the idea's debut- Brian announced the challenge. It would be a race for sailors by sailors without limits.
Brian's delivery sails aboard Bruno Peyron's "Commodore Explorer" and "Orange 2" played no small part inspiration-wise.
